- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field; Master's degree would be preferred.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in farm management, preferably in cassava cultivation
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing and developing teams.
- Deep understanding of agronomical practices, crop science, and agribusiness operations.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in agricultural software and technologies for farm management and data analysis.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for cassava cultivation, focusing on yield optimization, Starch content improvement, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
- Oversee the development and execution of annual operational plans and budgets.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to drive continuous improvement.
- Direct and supervise all farm operations, including land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting.
- Ensure compliance with agricultural best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement effective pest and disease control measures to safeguard crop health and maximize yield.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of cassava to processing facilities.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors to support farm operations as needed.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in raw material supply.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of farm managers, supervisors, agronomists, and field workers.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among the farm workforce.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Monitor farm expenses and budgets to ensure cost-effective operations without compromising quality or productivity.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings through efficient resource allocation and management practices.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact and promote long-term soil health.
- Explore and integrate innovative technologies for water management, energy efficiency, and waste reduction on the farm.
