Financial Controller

Our client in the Retail Industry seeks to hire for the position of a Financial Controller. Qualifications:
  • HND/BSC in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior financial management role.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Preferably within the retail industry or a multi-entity organization.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Proficient in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • A master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to create realistic and achievable financial plans.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Regularly review and update internal control procedures.
  • Manage the organization’s cash flow, including cash flow forecasting, monitoring liquidity, and ensuring adequate cash reserves to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on cost control, revenue enhancement, and overall financial performance.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of finance staff.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure that the organization’s financial risk management practices are robust and effective.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of financial performance and risks.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
