Financial Controller
Our client in the Retail Industry seeks to hire for the position of a Financial Controller.
Qualifications:
- HND/BSC in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA is required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior financial management role.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Preferably within the retail industry or a multi-entity organization.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Proficient in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- A master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage
- Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to create realistic and achievable financial plans.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and recommendations to management.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Regularly review and update internal control procedures.
- Manage the organization’s cash flow, including cash flow forecasting, monitoring liquidity, and ensuring adequate cash reserves to meet operational needs.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide insights and recommendations on cost control, revenue enhancement, and overall financial performance.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of finance staff.
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure that the organization’s financial risk management practices are robust and effective.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, the board of directors, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of financial performance and risks.
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
