Before going for an interview, there are things you need to be aware of and prepared for. You have only one chance to prove yourself and impress the interview panel and that’s why preparation is very important.

Review your CV

Before you go into an interview, you will need to first review your CV; check for misspellings, and typo errors, and check for omitted information and others.

Study the Job description

Go through the job description or advert to know what is expected of you if you get hired. This will also keep you informed about what they are looking for, making you prepared and confident ahead of the interview.

Dress Professionally

Make your dress code decision in accordance with the culture of the company. Is their appearance very professional or are they more relaxed and comfortable with semi-casual clothing?  If you are unsure, dress to look like a professional.

Control yourself

Get yourself together and control your anxiety and joy. If you are nervous, you will not be able to answer the interviewer confidently as you ought to. You can rehearse with a family member or a friend before the interview and at the interview centre, you can take a walk within or take a deep breath.

Research

Make your research about the company. Use Google, you can also visit the company to make enquiries. If they have a website and social media pages, check for information to know about them.

Know the pay

Make enquiries to know how big the company is, and how much they pay their employees within the level of your role. Also, enquire about the salary range for the role. This will guide you on what to say about salary expectations.

Smile and be nice

Be polite and greet everybody. You never know who in the organization might have a say on who gets the job finally. Also, smile frequently and look confident, but not overconfident.

Be punctual

Be punctual and make you are at the interview venue at least 15 minutes before the time, and the same thing applies to virtual interviews.
